I saw the thread this morning before work and t was closed before I even had a chance to type in it. :/ . I applaud your efforts though agree its really disappointing we can't discuss something so important.

the mods are pretty irrational with how they handle things around here

I'm fairly sure it's a matter of expediency. Too much time spent moderating one thread. I reported a bunch of different one-line posts which basically amounted to "Get back in the kitchen" or "Feminazi" or "This again?" to try and keep the thread clear for actual discussion.

the more reports they get the more likely they are to close it. best bet is to ignore trolls.

Mods are just doing their jobs. I got some of my posts edited and stuff in a thread a bit ago for comparing the German national socialist party of the 30-40's to the Dominion. It was an apt comparison, and I wasn't insulting anyone, but they didn't want it to breed troll replies.

Myrrdhinn is new to being a mod, but he's actually a pretty cool dude. The good news is that he didn't delete many posts, just locked the thread, so people can still read it. Regardless, I'm sure most people agree with you on that topic.

If most people agree with me on that topic they have remained startlingly quiet. Likely cowed by the much more vocal, and more socially supported, opposition.

Well, most people with any intellect or understanding of the world agree with you. It's like gun control and abortion, they are issues and a lot of people are too caught up in trying to sound correct than actually figuring it out. It's frankly very sad that at 17 I can view an argument from both sides and find a solution better than many adults.

Point being, if people would sit down and actually think about the things that come out of their mouths, then feminism would be much less opposed. Personally the only type of feminism I dislike is when women think it is oppressive for a male to be polite to them .-. I get the idea behind it, but it's too strict for little reason imo.

Primarily it's because a lot of men use "Polite" as an excuse to approach women they fancy and "Politely" ignore the fact that she's busy or uninterested in favor of forcing conversation.

If I'm just hanging out with people and someone is there and strikes up a conversation it's cool. If I'm feverishly typing on a computer or reading a book and trying to be alone, no matter how polite the approach it's going to be intrusive.

I mean when women don't want men to pay for dinner, or not to hold the door open for them. Because they want to be treated so equally that they are no different from men. Which I view as silly really, because you're women, not men.

    That's... a really... hmm...
There are differences. But those differences should be accepted and nothing more. If you and I were to hang out one weekend playing videogames as friends I wouldn't expect you to treat me differently than you treat your guy friends. Why? Because the defining characteristic of our interaction would be friendship.
