So it's five minutes to midnight, and my campus lounge is about to close and kick me out. My raid leader is calling for one more try, and we're all for it. We've spent the last 3 months grinding through this place, and we'll be damned if we don't give it our all. So the fight starts, first sons phase happens cleanly. Second sons phase happens and several of us die, but we're still going. Then something far worse happens, my internet dies as the college internet connection I have combined with server loads often crash. "NO!" I cry inwardly, I have to get back, we're half way through the fight. I spam the reconnect key. Error message. Error message again. Then finally connecting, and what seems like an eternity later I log back in. The fight's still going, but I'm only one of 15 left. I'm also the only melee dps left besides our main tank. But we're here to stay, he's down to 25% and we go for it.

Fifteen minutes later I'm one of 5 left standing. We crawled our way through the last 15% of his hp, but Ragnaros is dead for the first time for our guild Dissent. I hastily take a screen shot of my proudest ever moment in my guild standing over Rag's remains, log off as they just barely kick me out and re log in back in my room. We all go to Ironforge, proclaiming our victory. The entire server is happy for us, they congratulate us on becoming a "real" guild.

I don't know about you guys, but I loved 40 man raiding. This is my fondest moment of my time in WoW after 6 years of playing. What are some of your guys best raiding memories?

My must be when we took down Onyxia for the first time. Onyxia was something speciall for us since we that later funded the cunsil of the guild i played in had been inside the lair serveral time and haxxed are way past the adds to get to see her.
Then when we started growing as a guild we would clear the adds and she would burn us to a crisp.
Then after we started killing stuff in MC we went back and after maybe 30-50 wipes we killed her and the screams of joy did 5000dmg to my ears.

Also when we took our first city under guild control in L2. That was just an amazing feeling seeing the extreme costs and sacrifices that went in to do something like that for us. Around 200 ppl farmed cash for that event and i do not know how many actually came to the battle since in L2 you had to form several guilds since the player cap per guild was very low but i am sure we where over a 100 ppl there.

I just think that for every time someone remembers something they hate about raiding, there's always that moment where it was all worth while. Trying to remember that might give people a different view on any doubts they have on raiding I think.

I personally liked the little "extras" that had you going into raids in order to complete them, like Hand of Rag and Quel'Serrar.

Ye i remember seeing this guy from the top guild on our server Memento Mori that had Quel'Serrar in his hand glowing all green and awesome. (there was no weapon enchants back then so no colored weapons except this one). That by it self made a epic moment for me because it was when I saw that guild passing by with stuff like that i knew that i would get in there and do those raids!

yea those great immersive quest lines were a big part of the lore and fun raiding brought I think too. You weren't jsut their to do it as a job, or just because you wanted to progress. No, you haad to save the world of azeroth with the sacred dragon fire forged blade Quel'Serrar.

My fondest memories aren't the 40-man stuff (Edit: 40-man PvE raiding). Yes, I'm one of those guys who tried it but just didn't enjoy it.

My great moments include making a stand at a milegate in Dark Age of Camelot. Or defending a keep. Or the mad dash with a relic.

Or the original Alterac Valley, when you had PvE objectives to go along with the PvP. Most people would just blindly fight for ground, but there would be a few who would help take the mine, or gather wolf pelts, maybe escort a bat rider back to base, or help summon the Ice Lord.

Even better was that 45-minute Stratholme run for the Tier 0.5 gear quest. I was happy to help people with that.

I actually enjoyed Heroic Shattered Halls.

40-man raiding is good for some people. But it's not everyone's endgame.

Why not? Why is this not a valid and fun thing for a community of people excited about 40 mans to chat about? Why do 90% of your posts have to be insulting or complaining about other people's posts? This forum is not swimming in new topics and yet here you are, constantly updating us on what you feel should and shouldn't be talked about.

On Topic: One of my fondest 40 man memories is Garr, we had cleared up to him on a previous raid night, and on this night we did not have our normal amount of tanks/warlocks on to keep the firesworn either banished or offtanked so we were going to call the raid and come back another night, but my Tank friend Voxx just said very plainly in vent "If you assign Ark to heal me, I can tank 4 firesworn" to which everyone, including me, just laughed. He said "I'm not joking." and assured everyone, we would be fine.

We pulled, he picked up his 4 adds, I healed him like mad, at one point his health dropped to 4, but we did it....no wipes, one shot, downed Garr with him tanking 4 adds. It was super stressful, and I had a blast.

INB4 "there is nothing impressive about that, my guild had one tank tank all the adds!!" well guess what?! I don't care....it was cool for us.... =(

idk .. that other thread is pretty pathetic at this point. this is much more interesting for now, though someone is bound to come on over here eventually and tell us that we don't really like 40 man raiding; that we are just kidding ourselves.

When Askhandi (best weapon model ever, also Lothar :inlove:) dropped and I was the only retribution paladin in the server with it and stood proudly in the middle of Ironforge bank and AH. And many random warriors came to rage hard because back in those days ret paladins weren't really commonly allowed to DPS in progression guilds. I was lucky to be in a guild that rewarded people for performance rather than following status quo and theorycraft dps charts. It's all about the gear. Muaahah

The most proud I felt was probably Illidan. Not really because of the fight itself but specially because Black Temple was an instance that involved so many gearchecks that compromised regular raiding week after week of rage quitters that when we downed him it felt like a big weight was lift off our backs. Sunwell too, speccially Brutallus the "guild breaker", and a clutch lay on hands on the tank to save the day on an imminent wipe attempt.

The most painful, Vael (BWL) and Huhuran (AQ40) for sure. The amount of wasted Fire pots and Nature pots makes me cringe. So much hours of grinding wasted in wipes, I felt pity for RLs and officers that took part in those grinds all the time.

The most interesting raid fight from an individual pov was Kaelthas in Tempest Keep. The whole weapon thing and the different stages of the fight was amusing. Also dpsing while levitating was fun.

dude, that sounds like an amazing moment. What few people realize I think is that yea, most people master things in raiding eventually, but that one big moment of growth or epicness at LEAST equals out those moments of world firsts or people tanking all the adds one one tank. etc.

Plenty of people did Heigan every week in Naxx 10/25 doin the safety dance. But it's not the time we smoothly cleared it I remember well, it's those 60 minute fights with me tanking, one dps alive, and one pally healer barely pulling through more then 50% of his hp.

This REALLY doesn't belong here. Will you WoW fanboys PLEASE stop trying to take over these forums?

If I wanted to read about people bragging about how awesome they are in a vidjagame, I'd go read the Blizzard forums.

if your going to move this thread, should you not move the other 40 man thread?

This thread is about the preconceptions and feelings of what we wildstar fans have going into this mmo from previous experiences. Please move us back to our relevant thread, ty.
