Anybody find some videos that showcase paths specifically?

There have been loads of videos since the NDA dropped that have focused on the different classes. I'm having a hard time finding any videos though that go more in depth into the different paths.

Anybody have any links for path focused videos?

    Thanks!

Not specifically, but by their very nature, path stuff is largely encountered while doing other things. So unless someone wants to edit a lot of disparate material together, a path focused video isn't all that viable.

Some things I've picked up from watching various streams:
-since the path is chosen at character creation, path quests pick up pretty much right away.
-Other path objects are recognizable when not on the appropriate path, but you can't do anything with them.
-Settlers have to gather zone based materials to do their building work. But if something is already built, they can add time to existing structures (they decay on a timer).

Argh, the more I think about it the more I think about switching from explore. :(

Heh. I'm 90% likely to go scientist. Lore, lore everywhere.

Getting into the secret areas is nice, but I hate, hate, hate jump puzzles. And there seems to be plenty of combat, so little reason to go soldier.

Settler is a possibility, but I don't know if I want to fiddle with resource gathering for temporary buffs that other people will probably set up anyway. It would be interesting to be that that person, but it just doesn't seem quite as satisfying. And I'll probably have my bags full scavenging stuff to fuel the architect trade skill. I have a feeling that providing for the housing market is going to be a big deal.

I'm impatient for really meaty coverage of the housing system.

How could you hate jump puzzles? They're one of my favourite things in gaming, and pretty much the basis for platform games. I'm so glad the Devs implemented this in Wildstar, makes me that much more excited to play!

Most of my childhood was pre-Nintendo, and I never got into platformers at all. As far as gameplay goes, for me it is entirely unsatisfying and mystifyingly pointless.

Good question OP.... I have been looking for more path/crafting videos as well. If I stumble across some I will post them.

Meh, I suppose it's your opinion and I can't argue with that. Whatever floats your boat mate.

It is in German, but this video gives a great overview, and even if you don't speak German you can read all the tooltips etc.

That housing video is pretty neat. Though it looks like quite a huge money sink.

I'm kinda torn in paths. My Bartle Gamer Psycology test states I'm 73% Explorer (and 80% Socialiser), and I am, but similar to Bloddryn I'm not sure about jumping puzzles and time trials. I mean, I'm not allegic to platformers, and way back I did a full 120 star run of Mario 64, but I'm also the kind that can ragequit quite easily at a pixel perfect jump puzzle, even if the reward is a pretty vista or secret room.

Scientist appeals me with its lore, and also concerns me with potential matching puzzles I'd get frustrated with in the same way as jump puzzles. Again, they're fine to a point, especially if they give me cool lore, but too frustrating and sadly, I'm first to jump to the walkthrough to bypass the problem.

Settler is fine too. I like to help people. But I'm also concerned the materials I get could be used for myself. I'm a bit of hoarder!

Tough call. I'd like to hear more about the path benefits before I pick methinks.

Ironically I was thinking exactly that. Experimental weapons are appealing, and there appears to be no downside besides PvP quests. I guess I'll see what happens as time goes on though.

Of course, I'm forgetting something mind-numbingly obvious; I can just ignore the content I'm not bothered with. Still plenty to do anyways!

Well I was planning on going scientist 100%, but the more and more I hear about the settler, the more I'm convinced to go that route. I can't wait to see some legitimate gameplay.

Sarcan just did a really in-depth housing sequence on Twitch yesterday, here:

    http://www.twitch.tv/mmorpgcom/c/3434776

It looks pretty dang good. I am REALLY glad they made the ability to rotate/resize objects and place them anywhere, instead of just having static hooks.

If you check out his class vids, they're kinda long, but on his stalker and medic he does a Scientist, and on the Esper one he does a Settler. Goes into detail and shows you how they both work. It's all low-level of course, but you can still see the basics of it.

Watched that Twitch. It wasn't bad. Gave some basic info.
I'm not a fan of his things though, cause he's explaining stuff as if the audience is a bunch of drooling morons who should be more concerned with choking on their own tongues than actually playing an MMO.

Since i'll be playing Wildstar with my wife. I am sure we will likely run an explorer / scientist as our mains, with settler / ? on our alts. All three (scientist, settler and explorer) of these paths have some appeal to me. I see absolutely zero reason for taking soldier, unless it brings something game changing to end game raiding combat.

Lol Blade, I completely agree. Sarcan's tone always comes off as condescending to me, not sure if he actually is that way or it's just how it sounds, but it really irks me.

Yeah, I'm sure he doesn't mean to do it. It's simply how it comes across, and it's very frustrating to sit through. :p

I think part of it comes from it being live. He's responding to comments on the feed and trying to cover things people are talking about, so he gets very basic in his explanations.

But seeing him highlight an item that says "makes nearby plants grow faster" and then having him read that out, and then explain that it will make plants nearby grow faster...

From what I understand soldiers will open up combat missions in areas that other players can take part in. And the more soldiers that are in the area, the bigger the enemies (and thus loot) get.

They are also supposed to be able to give raids access to new bosses.

Thing is, in a raid you're probably going to have a soldier in there somewhere. So unless doing lots of combat is your thing, you might want to focus on something else for solo play or running with your wife.
