Food. What are you eating, what are you cooking? Share pictures, recipes, descriptions, reviews etc. of whatever it is you are consuming or creating in the way of food.

This thread was inspired by Kat's cruel cookie tease and Thanksgiving being right around the corner. But please don't limit yourself to only posting about Thanksgiving. There are 364* other days of potential gluttony to indulge in.

I have some Buckeye Balls (well, the centers of them!) in the freezer right now. Tomorrow they'll be dipped in chocolate coating to take them with us to Hubby's dad and step-mom's for Thanksgiving :) (it was demanded last year that I bring them again, lol!)

    1 1/2 cup peanut butter
    stick of butter
    3cups of powdered sugar
    vanilla
    (for the centers)
Melted chocolate to roll them in!

Does the recipe come from Ohio? Wondering about the reason for the name. I have a relative that introduced me to the amazingness that is "cake balls" last year. I ate them til I felt sick and then I ate more.

    There's a buckeye (it's an actual nut from a Buckeye Tree http://www.ohio-nature.com/buckeye-tree.html)
This next picture is a picture of a Buckeye Candy - dark brown outside with a little circle of light brown :)

This is for Tribe who asked me about it on my intro thread. :)

Sugar pie (French Canadian xmas dessert):

    Filling:
    - mix and bring to boil
    - 3 cups brown sugar
    - 4 tbsp flour
    - 2 cups Carnation milk
    -remove from heat and add
    - 4 beaten eggs & 2 tsp vanilla extract
    - bake at 350F for 20-25 min

Just make the pie crust your own usual way. Oh, just the bottom, there's no top portion to the crust.

Note: I recommend using a pirex pie plate to bake this dish.

    A Thanksgiving postmortem.

    Pre meal.
Bourbon and vodka. Crab dip, homemade pickles, and salami. Smoked ribs, oysters, and Italian sausages.

    The main event.
Two turkeys. One rubbed with Cajun seasoning and deep fried, the other wrapped in bacon and cooked in the oven. Plenty of fixings, the exact details of which I cannot fully recall. By this point I was feeling no pain.

    Dessert.
Pumpkin cheesecake, brown ale, and moonshine.

    Before I passed out.
Water. Thanks to the people kind enough to give my drunk ass a ride home I was able to sleep in my own bed, always a nice way to end an evening of revelry.

Had a chicken salad sandwich for lunch.

Sautéed onions and minced garlic in butter and olive oil. Sliced and toasted some torta then dipped it, open sides down, in the sauté pan drippings. A generous heap of chicken salad made with rotisserie cooked chicken and sprinkled it with poultry seasoning. Sautéed onions went on the bottom.

Washed it down with a bottle of Boffo Brown Ale.

Is there a theme for the batch of sugar cookies you'll be decorating tomorrow?

From scratch is a wonderful idea... but alas, the time it takes to make anything that way.

Good luck with your tortillas. I like to heat mine in bacon grease.

    Trashy tacos for lunch.
Corn tortillas (store bought) heated in bacon grease. Two kinds of sausage, smoked and cooked in beer. Baked beans with cumin. Shredded cheese, Mexican blend. Sriracha.

Eggs Benedict? The slice of ham is so wide I cannot see an English Muffin.

What is Canadian Bacon called in Canada? Back bacon?
