Sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it. Wonder if any juicy new details will come out of the conversation.

The CM's are on lunch at the moment, but here's a few highlights...

@Team_WildStar: Discussion topic: What kinds of in-game events do you like/want to see in #WildStar? Live? Seasonal? Player-driven? Let us know! #WSuplink

@KatharineUrtem: @Team_WildStar Anyone can propose their event to the WS crew, & if it's doable, they get the crew's help to organize it
@KatharineUrtem: ...And those who successfully submit their event win a little something like an object or a title
    @CRB_Aether: @katharineurtem Now that's a great idea. I'm writing that one down. #WSuplink

@thtgynmdfsh: @Team_WildStar I'd like to see seasonal events that make sense in the context of the game world and happen in certain areas of the world.
@CRB_Aether: @thtgynmdfsh So imagine we have unique seasonal events that match up with our standard holidays. Is that alright? #WSuplink
@thtgynmdfsh: @CRB_Aether As long as you guys can find a fun way to twist them in with the game's context and make it feel like they belong there.
@zaprobo: @thtgynmdfsh @CRB_Aether Make events about the season, not holiday - planting, harvesting, and the customs WS races have for that #WSuplink
@CRB_Aether: @thtgynmdfsh @zaprobo Agreed, on all counts. Re-imagined seasonal events, set in our world. That makes the list. #WSuplink
@thtgynmdfsh: @CRB_Aether @zaprobo It would be interesting to have some events be faction exclusive, because of differing lore between the two.
@CRB_Aether: @thtgynmdfsh Faction exclusive events are now on the list for exploration by the Social Systems team. ^5 #WSuplink

@WonderPenguin: @CRB_Aether Haha that would be cool! I feel like dungeons should be about combat loot and events social loot. So combining effects is great!
@CRB_Aether: @wonderpenguin Social loot?! I dig it! Consider that term adopted, while I run to talk to our social systems designer. #WSuplink

@zaprobo: @Team_WildStar Mild tangent... foreshadow repeating events (seasonal) with perma-ingame lore. Don't put them ingame out of nowhere #WSuplink
@CRB_Aether: @zaprobo Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm hearing that consistency is important. How important is the element of surprise? #WSuplink
@zaprobo: @CRB_Aether Love the element of surprise, but something that is ingame "general knowledge" shouldn't come out of left field #WSuplink
@CRB_Aether: @zaprobo Fair points, all of them. Part of this discussion is helping us frame the base tenets of our events. This makes the list. #WSuplink
@CRB_Robeardo: @zaprobo If I have any say, they won't come out of nowhere! There's nothing more jarring than being presented something out of the blue!

@thtgynmdfsh: @CRB_Aether Perhaps an event where the amount of contribution determines the scale of the reward for players? Like a harvest for a feast?
@CRB_Aether: @thtgynmdfsh Now we're talking. That's the kind of thing that makes an important for people that really work hard. #WSuplink

@souperfan: @Team_WildStar We need player driven PvP events such as escort/destroy the artifact in a Team Fortress 2 "Payload" style event. #WSuplink
@CRB_Aether: @souperfan Now that's a great idea as well. PvP events are on the list. #WSuplink

    Nothing concrete...

    On social loot

WonderPenguin: @CRB_Aether Haha that would be cool! I feel like dungeons should be about combat loot and events social loot. So combining effects is great!
CRB_Aether: @wonderpenguin Social loot?! I dig it! Consider that term adopted, while I run to talk to our social systems designer.

AutumnalDusk: @CRB_Aether Costuming should come from each race's history, not just human's. Great way to hint at race's historical lore.
CRB_Aether: @autumnaldusk That's the kind of depth we are talking about. Make items important to the lore, but put them in the player's hands.

Bkmiller428: @Team_WildStar I just had an interesting (at least to me) idea for "social loot": Musical instruments!
CRB_Aether: @bkmiller428 Ohoh! We haven't talked about musical instruments. That's something to explore.
Bkmiller428: @CRB_Aether Recorders, ukuleles, other simple instruments should be not too difficult to program, I'd think. Not pianos, guitars.
siegaplays: @Bkmiller428 @CRB_Aether "Native" instruments, some universal, but some should be connected to races by lore even if all can play
CRB_Aether: @siegaplays Agreed! I'm really excited by the idea of race-specific musical instruments to help add some flavor to the race stories....

    On synch emotes/emotes

siegaplays: @CRB_Aether @wonderpenguin dance emotes as social loot drops? something that can be macroed/typed together into unique dances
CRB_Aether: @siegaplays Interesting notion and something that has been popular in other MMOs. How important are synchronized emotes to people?
siegaplays: @CRB_Aether @wonderpenguin About the synch. emotes. I never did RP because memorizing them to speak fluent "emote" frustrated me
zaprobo: @CRB_Aether @siegaplays A generic command of /respond could be created that auto does the partner to any other emote seen locally?
CRB_Aether: @zaprobo You know, that's an interesting notion. I'm going to share that idea with our team and see what they think.

    On seasonal/periodic risks/threats

AutumnalDusk:@CRB_Robeardo How about a Nexus version of an "Algae Bloom", that if left unchecked, diminishes flora/fauna till next season?
siegaplays: @AutumnalDusk @CRB_Robeardo I like this idea. Fail to fight something off and it has world/area concequences for the future
CRB_Robeardo: @siegaplays @AutumnalDusk What kind of consequences? How would you balance it against normal gameplay?
siegaplays: @CRB_Robeardo @AutumnalDusk with Algae Bloomn, something like making harvest spawns adjusted by how well the threat is fought off?
siegaplays: @CRB_Robeardo @AutumnalDusk Like Anne McCaffreys Pern series, with thread falling and devastating the ground if not burned out of the sky
AutumnalDusk: @CRB_Robeardo @siegaplays On the presumption that flora/fauna are harvestable resources, a failed event makes for lean pickings that year.
siegaplays: @AutumnalDusk @CRB_Robeardo or a % of the harvest, depending on how much it failed, would be damaged goods
AutumnalDusk: @siegaplays @CRB_Robeardo Exactly. This will make the event "long term" important to players of all levels. Action/re-action
CRB_Robeardo: @siegaplays @AutumnalDusk Damaged as in 'can't ever be used' or damaged as in 'combine a few bad ones to make a good one'?
AutumnalDusk: @CRB_Robeardo Either, actually. So long as there's negative consequence for (combined) player inaction. Steward Nexus, or reap few rewards.
siegaplays: @CRB_Robeardo @AutumnalDusk or hand in for further investigation to scientists - how to prevent as much dmg next time it happens
AutumnalDusk: @siegaplays @CRB_Robeardo Yes! One way or another , the combined work of the playerbase affects the planetary resource rate.
siegaplays: @Team_WildStar what about a rare chance of weird or rare loot from harvesting after succeeding to prevent a seasonal disaster?
siegaplays: @Team_WildStar as an opposit to the consequences of failing to prevent a seasonal disaster, as we talked about earlier.

    On gold spammers

AutumnalDusk: @CRB_Aether Of course, "bounty hunting" gold spammers should be a year-round event. Players like pwning gold sellers.
siegaplays: @AutumnalDusk @CRB_Aether making fun of gold spammers - like an auto all hostile pvp tag if they fit some spam filters+spamreport
CRB_Aether: @autumnaldusk Now that's been a dream of mine forever: Gold Spammer whack-a-mole!
siegaplays: @CRB_Aether @autumnaldusk Add a no-chat/say clause while death, and it is a win year round surprise event ;-)
BKMiller428: @AutumnalDusk @CRB_Aether I'd rather see systems in place to prevent gold sales altogether. Difficult, but not impossible
CRB_Aether: @bkmiller428 The gold spammer discussion is on the docket for another time, but it's an important discussion for us to have.

    ***

    On path driven events

siegaplays: @Team_WildStar Given paths, maybe live events for specific paths, other paths can help, but focused on the path talents of the day
CRB_Aether: @siegaplays Ooh, that's an interesting idea. Imagine that anything is possible: What kind of Path events sound interesting?
siegaplays: @CRB_Aether example would be an public event to build something big for settler, while other paths fend off native lifeforms/pvp.
thtgynmdfsh: @CRB_Aether I think it would be interesting to give Settlers a way to begin smaller, more localized events in towns and such.
CRB_Aether: @thtgynmdfsh I like that sound of that. Settlers are a natural Path for storytellers and social event fans to get involved with

EDIT: Added in some comments I missed due to twitter not being threading friendly :p

MOD EDIT 2: Also added Brotoi's missing tweet! -- starspun... again

Of course they did, but these are edited highlights of the on-topic conversation! It was actually a really productive session and I hope Carbine got as much out of it as we fans did! Looking forward to more of the same :) (and of course, WildStar Wednesday tomorrow)

I am still totally into treating gold spammers as a ingame hostile of a totally different faction rather than a nuisance just to spamreport /muahahahahaaaa

    Excellent compilation! Thank-you!

The missing comment here was from me (BKMiller428):

BKMiller428: @AutumnalDusk @CRB_Aether I'd rather see systems in place to prevent gold sales altogether. Difficult, but not impossible

Again, an excellent compilation that filled in many dialogue passages I'd missed. Thank-you!

Thanks, was a headache to try compile it chronologically and get all comments related to the subtopic in too.

I didn't list the few PvP posts. Naturally pvp events is wanted too, nobody really fleshed it out much though. The path focused events could be done both pve and pvp. Holiday killjoy could be part of some seasonal events, if one culture/race celebrate something another abhors, like the conquest of planet this and that after 50 years, where the opposition happens to be one of the exiles from said planet.

Maybe I should just stick my head into the ground and keep it there until the game comes out, getting new idea (to me) on every second sentence can not be healthy :p

Many thanks to Zap and Siega for compiling tweets for us! Twitter is a painful way for discussions like these - at least for people trying to follow them - so I really appreciate the work you put in!
