Yes, that would work.
Hah, missed that in Auryns posts
What about totally removing votes from the players and put it all on the game code? The game would decide who gets what based on certain criteria that occurred during play. Then you couldn't have abuse by players at all, just players being abusive to the game coders.
I have been thinking about this topic for a while now. I do not have any sort of perfect solution to the optimum way to build server communities.
From my experience the voting for people systems is either abused or ignored.
I am not a hard core raider and I think a portion of the gamers don't really care who is server first. Some kind of distiction would be good for them but I don't really think that builds a community.
What I have seen build communities is when people group up to do something together. I am in a strong community which is the WvW community of my server. You see them in most if not all the WvW servers in GW2 and similar games. the guilds and randoms band together set up server community pages and forums, a TS server, planning meetings etc..
we get to know each other. you have friends in other guilds and non-guild members in your party as well as comradery while playing.
So yeah stuff we do as a server together helps builds a community.
But the code wouldn't know if a player was being friendly or immature to other players.
And the analysis is now available. Of particular note...
This seems to 'confirm' my guessing of the release date being Spring 2014.
The less stuff I 'need' to do outside the game the better. Would love to see this and maybe even the forums accessible inside the game.
It can't be 2013 is the year of WildStar, is it not?
I found that confusing, because I could've sworn that I read somewhere that 2013 is the year of WildStar.
Yes, this year will be the year of Wildstar. A lot of information will be released about the game and beta(s) will start this year as well.
Release date being Spring 2014 is my guess, but it is not confirmed, so don't pin Carbine to it.
I try to steel myself against phrases like "... in the coming year..." because it tells us so little. I always find them initially disheartening, but then I realize that things change so much over the duration of 365 days that it becomes filler speech.
Take heart my Siblings of Science Fiction, this year will be epic because of what it is that joins us: this amazing project that is building toward what I am confident will be an amazing game.
So depressing I hate waiting. I need something to keep me busy for that long . BF3 is really getting old and I cant stand to log into DCUO any longer.
The anticipation is eating away at me from the inside
These forums are really an amazing idea for those who are very passionate about WS.
I expect it to be released in 2014 as well but with SWTOR for example we got an unexpected X-Mas release.
Don't you dare compare Wildstar with SW:ToR! :O
SWTOR had a decent launch based on what I read. Also I remember staying up late at night in Mumble and one of the community reps from Bioware was teasing us about the start of pre-orders until the page came up, good times.
It really did. There wasn't a lot of load time because they opened a ton of servers. One of the smoothest launches I've ever experienced.
Any of you guys seen the Diablo 3 launch? It was seriously a joke, countless error and disconnects, and the auction house was buggy for weeks. If they gave awards for the worst game launch, Diablo 3 would win for a decade.
ok this is totally of topic but Dauthis you should have put the entire rant in your sig. [love that rant ]
on topic: if its going to be a true beta like they said I expect a 2014 release as well.
I think you're reading too much into it.
2013 release confirmed
