    Well now let's lay down the facts, I'll start off by saying i'm not going to go full into detail but you guys can if you want.

    The Mordesh were once a great race that were majestic, had long life spans and were part of the dominion.

    The Dominion's highest authority, or nobility are the Luminai descendants of Dominus the Half-Blood and have facial features VERY similar to what the Mordesh have. I can't find a Mordesh screen to compare sorry.

    [IMG]

    Notice the high cheek bones? well the Mordesh also have them in game as well as most of them if not all having those ears. So now they already look very similar to the Luminai who have Eldan blood, and this is after they've been made well, basically ugly. Now heres where it all joins up.

    The Luminai are descended from Dominus who was a half-blood himself. He was also unnaturally created, but the Eldan must have had a image in mind, for all they know combining Cassian and Eldan could just make a monstrosity. Who was that image? Who else was half-eldan? The mordesh. I believe the Mordesh to be Half-Eldan.

    Here is why... Now I know we don't know much about the Eldan at all and the Mordesh too. But here is what we know, the Mordesh are genius' perhaps even smarter than the Chua's, they were also obviously much easier to co-operate with than total sociopaths. The Vigilant Declaration was introduced by Jarec of house Aziron who was the emperor of the Dominion at the time in 1376 AE. Why was this? To make sure that the Emperor remains of the bloodline of Dominus. The only plothole that I can't cover is when the Mordesh joined the Dominion which hasn't been revealed yet. But perhaps this was done BEFORE they recruited the Mordesh because Jarec had found out about their Eldan heritage, and in order not to have another claim to the throne he would rather his people keep it. For centuries the Dominion utilised the talents and genius of the Mordesh to further make them unstoppable. But the Dominion were waiting, for a time when the Mordesh would fall and be destroyed, for a time when the only claim would be Luminai even if it was made known to the public. This happened in 1578 AE, now why in the world would the Dominion abandon their GENIUS' to rot and devour each other? So there was no more way of finding out the Mordesh and Eldan were linked.
    I know this is far fetched and we have little lore and evidence to back it up, but regardless i feel the Mordesh are VERY strongly related to the Eldan.

    Discuss this theory.

    Far fetched? honestly i can see this being somewhat reality, as you said the Mordesh were a majestic race of people, we know they are incredibly smart and have incredible capabilities with technology and alchemy.

    This along with the fact they do resemble the Eldan and the Luminai, means this could come to some really cool plot twists.

    Yea I know but I just didn't want to look like a idiot if the dates are messed up xD. I personally have a strong belief in this theory. I just put all the facts together really

    I didn't think they were actually part of the Dominion at any point, just in the process of being recruited to join them.

    Well I'm not sure of the dates myself, but the theory itself is an interesting one. especially since we know very little of the Mordesh or who this ''former race'' was that they used to be.

    Then you just add the visual similarities and it makes a very interesting theory.

    Until the last century, the Mordesh of planet Grismara had a flourishing civilization whose refinements in alchemy made them the envy of the galaxy. Having attracted the attention of the Dominion and been invited to join, their ongoing success was all but inevitable.

    Then you get to read the meet the mordesh, read the part on the dominion and if you read later into the races section it's pretty much made clear they joined the Dominion. for there was no reason for the Dominion to blockade them on their OWN planet. It honestly doesn't make sense, in the end they'd just rot and die. They kept them in because they wanted it to be quicker and for them not to receive help.

    I figured i would put a pic of both the Luminai and the Mordesh here, although there are some subtle differences they look incredibly similar, and it does say the Luminai have a resemblance to the Eldan.

    So heres the two images for comparison sake.

    Ears, Hands, Feet, Facial and Body Structure are all very similar although we can't see the Luminai hands or feet uncovered they look like they may share a resemblance, Obviously the Mordesh are much harder for ware than the Luminai though.

    Being invited and joining are two different things.

    Could you elaborate on which part of the "meet the mordesh" verifies they were part of the Dominion?

    I'm quite sceptical about this. I do not understand why the fact of letting the Mordesh die would help then to find out a hypothetical link between the two races.
    Could you enlighten me?

    I was skeptical, but that comparison picture Skippy linked really does make it seem there's something to it. Very similar body structure. Perhaps too close to be a coincidence. Well done for spotting it.

    I think xalon means that maybe the dominion (mostly the luminai) would like the mordesh dead if there is in fact a link between them and the eldan so that the luminai would be the only ones with claim to the eldan tech etc. And if the mordesh were dead because of this contagion, who else is gonna find out there's a link between them and the eldan? Nobody, just how the luminai would like it.

    Atleast this is my interpritation of it.

    Surely if the Mordesh had such a claim they would attempt to capitalise on it. Though perhaps they will in the future. And if the Luminai's attempt to remove the competition is what drove them into the arms of the Exiles, then that plan kinda backfired eh. Would have been better for them to keep them in the Dominion and use social manipulation to stigmatise the Mordesh and their claim along with it.

    You can go a step further maybe the Luminai "caused" the outbreak of the disease.. maybe they got there hands on Victors research altered it to make it look like the disease came from the elixir and the rest is history.

    Also you can see the similar in the eyes are a give away..

    Sorry but WHERE do you see something similar in their face except for the ears?
    Cheeks = different
    Eye sockets = different
    Forhead = different
    Chin = different
    Nose = different
    Lips = different
    Eyebrows = different
    Heck even if we compare the sizes of both (the male), then even the ears have some differences (but small ones), Luminai ears are bigger and stand up more.

    Also we don't know if the Luminai has a tatoo on his forehead or if it's some kind of birth-mark, if it's a birth-mark then = different aswell.

    But all those things are NOT MINOR differences...lol

    Ask any artist here who specialises in make portraits (faces) ;)

    As for the joining of the Dominion:

    They were asked to join, however seeing how the lore goes we can only assume they were in the Dominion for ''only a short time''. Once they got infection the Dominion simply didn't find them usefull anymore and discarded them for the protection of their people.

    Speculation:
    If they would really had Eldan blood in them, in terms of how the Luminai have that, then the Mechari would probably (speculation) been bound (programming laws of the Eldan) to help/protect them.

    I just don't see this ''theory'' becomming reality...sorry, although it's a nice theory but for me it stays a ''theory'' :D

    I disagree. All the facial features look extremely similar except they're all slightly rounder and droopier on the Mordesh - which you'd expect from an undead version surely. Obviously they're not going to make them perfectly identical with only different shades of skin. They'd want a similar body and facial structure to hint at their lineage, but not to be completely overt.

    Of course this entire theory is all speculation. Entirely possible there's no relationship. But the physical similarities are very striking.

    Honestly it could just be a stylization choice that makes them similar.

    Then again, the things that make them different could just be normal variation within a species (Different Ethnicities, for example)

    This was my thought as well. The artistic style across the races is similar, and these are both elvish looking races, so similarities might be misleading us.

    Only going to comment on the second section, here.

    The Mordesh were blockaded because the Everlife Elixir lead to The Contagion. The Contagion was contagious. That means that Non-Mordesh who got infected would also become cannibalistic, rotting, zombie-like monsters.

    The blockade was a Quarantine to ensure that the Contagion didn't spread to other planets. It was a GOOD thing. It wasn't about making the Mordesh die off faster or making sure they did not get help: It was about keeping the rest of the galaxy safe from infection.

    Yes it could be a reason. But I guess luminais could have reacted the exact other way around, namely make a strong alliance with the mordesh people to unravel the past of the two races.

    It's a fact that Contagion was contagious but was that a reason to let these people die? Without trying to give then any help. I think that was not a good thing at all.

    "A Few Weeks" means less than a month but more than 14 days. So between 2 weeks and 1 day and 3 weeks and 6 days the civilization of Billions was within a "Hairsbreadth" of extinction.

    With that kind of infection on a GLOBAL scale we're looking at a bigger and faster rate of infection than anything the Planet Earth has seen. From all accounts it took the Dinosaurs longer than that to die out after the planetary cretaceous extinction event.

    With that high of a rate of infection ANY humanitarian aid would be cut off thanks to risk of the infection spreading. And that's not even TOUCHING on the time it takes to travel between the planets. Gliese 581-G is the closest life-sustaining planet to Earth (that we know about) and it's 20 light years away. At 20 times the speed of light it would still take a full year to get there. At 200 times the speed of light it would still take 36 days, over a month. Far too long to get there in time to save the population.
