Am I the only one who's disappointed that there's no Paladin class that can tank/dps/heal? I understand they wanted every class to only be able to do 2 roles (tank/dps, heal/dps, etc/derp) but Paladins are like, awesome. How are there no shields? A big dude in big armor with a big shield and a big sword shooting beams of sweet holy light from his hands. Who wouldn't want that? Right?

Why would you want one class to be able to fill three roles if all other classes can only fill two?

Each class is limited to two things, you're going to have to deal with that.

If some classes are able to heal as a tank is not something i'll comment on but no class will have a dedicated heal and tank role.

Never liked the idea of a Paladin. Must be due to my first mmo love, the EQ Shadow Knight.

Religion should not be a part of wildstar.
All advanced future societies are atheists! :)

You can try with a class that is still unannounced and it's supposed to have heavy armour and heal if my count's doesn't go wrong... But holy sacred dsp tanky healing thing I think doesn't appears :)

A paladin archetype would fit perfectly in the Dominion with all the Eldan worship and loyalty to the emporer. It could fit in with the Exiles too if it's more of a focus on service to the people rather than to some higher power. Just focus it more on buffs with Tank/DPS role and just scrap the whole concept of healing and it would be perfect.

For me there is no need for a shield and board char. They would not be able to balance that class right for PvP. They also if they had tried to, they would also not do them any justice. The action combat would pretty much beg for a button that would ready the shield, instead of dodging. That may ruin the whole theme of this game. maybe a cleric type class would do the trick, melee DPS/Healer.

I just do not see how a shield a board character would work in this game, with this type of action combat, to make the other melee classes seem relevant in comparison.

Never Winter for example, they are way too powerful in PvP.

RaiderZ for example they have too weak dps to be any fun, unless you build your char to basically ignore the shield with the skills. even then their DPS is too weak compared to the class that has a two hander.

Fantasy games are this way ------------------------>
No fantasy classes in a sci fi game.

    Eldan are treated as gods.

Also, atheism is a form of religion.

Yes, but in World of Warcraft Gods actually existed, hence the source of a Paladin's power. In Wildstar I'm not sure whether they will have any deities. If the game world has Gods then being an Atheist would not stop them from existing and being powerful.

Besides, I do agree with you. A Paladin in a Sci-Fi game? I do not think so. It doesn't fit, at all.

Just to clarify: Religion, The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods.

    That is not a belief.
    That is a fact.
That is like saying not collecting stamps is a hobby.

But this is pretty off topic, and these discussions rarely end well.

My point was that if there are no known gods that exist in game, then the paladin doesn't make sense.
Even if this were the case, it doesn't fit with the sci-fi genre anyway imo.

I looked religion up on several dictionary websites, most of them do not include what you have included here.

There is no point talking to people like yourself about these things. Besides, it's off-topic and inappropriate for a thread about a silly class being added to Wildstar.

    Now, bye.

The act of atheism is to be against religion, that is the essence of what atheism is, now how can you actually be atheist (against religion) if atheism is a religion?

It just makes complete contradiction in what you are saying, kthxbai.

Oh and can we not have religion talk here? It really has no place on the forums as it starts conflict at the drop of a hat.

Well, this thread is on its way to a lock if nothing changes.

On-topic: I prefer the dual role only approach that Carbine is currently taking which contradicts the class setup of a Paladin. As for the Fantasy type setup, I don't think that would mesh with the way the rest of the game is set up.
