What is the Terran Expeditionary Corps (TEC)?
TEC is role-play, pvp oriented guild for the game Wildstar Online. We are a Dominion faction guild. Our focus is on creating a family friendly, fun gaming community for individuals interested in global domination :)

    How do I join TEC?
You can apply for membership here. Before applying you are encouraged to check out our website. You are also strongly encouraged to read through our Code of Conduct. Once you have applied, feel free to introduce yourself in our public recruiting forum.

What does "role-play, pvp oriented" mean?
TEC is not a hardcore RP/PvP guild. However, it does encourage role-play within chat in the game. It also encourages, but does not require, PvP activity of its members. TEC will start out on a RP/PvP server if one is available. If none is available, then a PvP server will be selected.

What is the backstory of the Terran Expeditionary Corps?
TEC is an elite force within the Dominion military structure. It was deployed to Nexus to eliminate Admiral Brightland and the Exile forces. However, the TEC fleet was destroyed by automated Eldan defense systems and is currently attempting to regroup on the surface of Nexus. A full treatment of the history of the TEC can be found here.

What are the requirements for joining TEC?
Members can be of any activity level from casual to hardcore. TEC supports PvE, PvP, and RP activities. Prospective members of TEC should:
    • Be of the Dominion faction
    • Be of the Human or Mechari races. Characters of other races may be accepted, but this would be an exception rather than the rule.
    • Be at least 16 years of age
    • Be willing to abide by the Code of Conduct
    • Be interested in building a fun, family friendly online gaming community
There are no requirements for minimum gaming hours each week, though participation in meetings and events is encouraged.

    How is TEC structured?
TEC is structured in a pseudo-military fashion. Within TEC there are three companies. Alpha Company is designed for players who are passionate about PvE content. Beta Company is designed for players who are passionate about PvP content. Delta company is designed for a mix of more casual players who want to be part of the Corps, but who are not as interested in an intense gaming experience. Company assignments are made at recruitment, but can be changed at any time. In addition, companies are not restrictive. For example, you can be a member of Beta company and still play heavily in PvE content. Companies are meant to group players with other players of common interest, not restrict them from other types of gameplay.

What are the short term goals for TEC since the game is not out yet?
We have several short term goals. Obviously building a member-base is a major priority. Beyond that, we have the following goals:
    1. Fine tune the current guild website and add elements to help it more readily identify as a Wildstar Online associated site. We are definitely interested in members with web design skills or graphics skills who would be interested in helping in this area.
    2. Fine tune current guild policies and structure to meet the needs of its members.
    3. Engage as many members in the Wildstar Beta when it launches as possible.
    4. Build the community and strengthen the community by engaging in other games (Mechwarrior Online, SWTOR, or other games as indicated by the membership) until such time as Wildstar becomes widely available.
Ultimately we want to build THE premier Dominion guild in preparation for launch.

What kind of voice chat support do you offer?
TEC uses C3 for its voice chat technology. Voice chat is NOT required. However, it ca be a fun way to connect with other members. Details on setting up C3 can be found here.

Here is the backstory for the TEC.

The Founding of the Terran Expeditionary Corps

Early in the 22nd century,Terrans migrated from planet earth and began interstallar colonization. Initial efforts to expand across the stars were met with frustration and failure, but continued out of desparation as Earth's resources rapidly dwindled. Eventually a few key colonies (among them Cassus) were founded and humanity's influence began to grow. In order to more effectively facilitate this growth, the Terran Expeditionary Corps (TEC) was formed. This elite force spearheaded early colonization and conquest efforts for Cassus and, later, the Dominion.

The Battle of Brightland the Betrayer

As is noted in other records, humanity's influence grew under the governance of the Dominion. Through a combination of political, economic, and military superiority and aggression, the Dominion crushed all opposition in its path. The Terran Expeditionary Corps played a vital role in this expansion, initiating first contact with alien species and negotiating their surrender when necessary. Later, as civil war broke out in the Dominion, TEC forces were dispatched to the outer rim to contain riots across multiple systems in the Delarus cluster. It was during this time that Admiral Serrick Brightland chose to betray his people, wreaking havoc among loyal Dominion forces.
By the time TEC forces returned to the core worlds, the damage was done. The bulk of the Dominion forces were scattered and in disarray, nursing brutal wounds from the unexpected betrayal of one of their own. TEC was tasked to spearhead Operation Hammerfoe, pursuing Brightland and his forces into deep space. The command ship Hand of Dominus led the pursuit with dozens of capitol class ships, bent on tracking down the exiled forces and destroying them.

The Jewel of the Empire: Nexus

TEC and its supporting Dominion fleet tracked Brightland to the remote planet Nexus. Little was known about Nexus to the humans comprising the bulk of the Dominion fleet, but rumors quickly circulated among the Mechari in the fleet that Nexus was indeed the homeworld of the lost race known as the Eldan. Communications from Imperial Command on Cassus indicated that securing Nexus and eliminating the Exile forces on that world could be critical to the future of the Dominion. Since Brightland's betrayal, dozens of worlds have openly rebelled against the Dominion. With much of its military destroyed and the remaining forces either spread across the galaxy containing the rebellion or tied up in Operation Hammerfoe, the Dominion desparately needed a win with the planet Nexus. Securing this world would symbolically crush rebellion across Dominion space, while functionally destroying the heart of the Exile forces. As an added bonus, securing Nexus opened the possibility of learning more about Eldan technology, providing even more power to a badly shaken Dominion.

    The Tears of Nexus

TEC Command approached Nexus sure of an easy victory. Dominion forces outnumbered the remnants of the Exile fleet 4 to 1. Long range scanners indicate that the Star of Dominus, presumably with Brightland the Betrayer aboard, crash landed somewhere on the northern continent. Confident of its superior numbers, Dominion forces moved forward en masse, preparing to slaugther the Exile forces. Just as the two fleets began to engage one another, massive energy signatures appeared on the planet surface. Without warning, searing beams of energy from the planet below blasted both fleets. The Hand of Dominus, along with most of the TEC command structure, was simply vaporized. The remaining ships on both sides scrambled to take bearings on the situation, only to watch on as more ships were blasted out of the sky. Most of the remaining forces from Operation Hammerfoe attempted to flee to deep space, severely underestimating the range of what are now theorized to be Eldan automated defense batteries. Not one vessel made it out of the system. However, a handful of ships, under the command of Colonel Khade Deveron of TEC Command, drove their ships toward the planet, in hopes that the planetary defenses had a minimum firing range.

The ships under Colonel Deveron's command were not designed for atmospheric flight and were destroyed during re-entry. However, the Colonel and many TEC personnel took advantage of the reprieve from Nexus defense guns and abandoned ship just as their capitol ships hit atmosphere. It is estimated that over 90% of the Dominion forces involved in Operation Hammerfoe were lost over Nexus. To make matters worse, those personnel that survived were scattered across the planet with limited supplies and no way to contact Cassus. Even if it were possible to contact the homeworld, it is unlikely that any reinforcements would be sent. Why would Cassus risk throwing additional resources against planetary guns that can vaporize entire fleets? The survivors of Operation Hammerfoe were on their own.

With no aid in sight, Colonel Deveron and a handful of the remnants of the TEC seek to regroup, continuing their mission to eliminate Exile forces and secure Nexus for the Dominion. As the survivors prepare camp for the night, they look up to the sky, as thousands of pieces of debris fall, like tears weeping for the lost souls of Operation Hammerfoe.

I love seeing RP people come in here. It's wonderful to see people who care about why they are there, instead of just killing like Granoks...

That was a beautiful story. I love how you did the Dominion's sympathy card, the fact that their beloved empire had a gigantic chunk ripped out of its side by Brightland's breaking out. The massive losses of both resources and personnel was dramatic from a military, political and economic perspective, and from a human perspective in that of the lives lost in the chaos.

I like the explanation for Nexus importance. Crushing the heart of the Exiles was a particularly powerful metaphor, and their desperation justifies and explains a lot of the Dominion's activity on the planet.

Excellent justification with TEC's initially low numbers. I love the frantic pace and the horror of such a tragedy. My enemy, the Dominion may be, but all life is precious. "The Last Beacon of Hope" is playing in my background, and it is coincidentally excellent music for that beautifully sorrowful moment with the remaining 10% looking up at the stars, watching as their once glorious ships rain down from the sky as metal, or just become stardust.

    Ruff_ethereal,

Thanks so much for your feedback! That was really what I was shooting for with the background story: something RP oriented that makes sense of Dominion players scattered across Nexus.

It will be exciting to see how the community grows and expands as we get closer to beta and to launch!

    Best regards
