So what do we have here? A fresh Dominion soldier looking for a battle? There's plenty of that here on Nexus, but do you think you can take it? Think you got what it takes to stand tall when the Exiles start ganking up on you recruit? Yeah? Well, go ahead then, kill yourself to prove a point hotshot. In the meantime, I'll let the next in line get a shot at joining Venus Rising, a group that knows that in war, numbers count. What's that? You changed your mind cupcake? Well, let's talk business then. Venus Rising is a newly formed guild looking for players who want to work together to take on all the challenges Nexus has to offer. Given the importance of guilds in Wildstar, it’s vital that we ensure that the people who join will fit in with the philosophy of the guild, for both their benefit and ours. Below is a summary of who we are, what we stand for, and how we will play - so if you’re thinking about pledging your loyalties to a guild, but haven’t yet picked one, then read on and see if Venus Rising might be what you are looking for. --- Multi gaming conglomerate or stand alone community? As mentioned above, Venus Rising is a newly formed guild. As a result we will be focusing our energies solely on playing Wildstar. While the guild is new, the leadership team is experienced, having led or been involved with successful guilds across a broad spectrum of games, including Dark Age of Camelot, Shaiya, Last Chaos, World of Warcraft, The Secret World, Rift, Defiance and Neverwinter. Across each of these, a consistent theme has been maintained – that is actively looking to encourage players to experience everything the game has to offer, and trying to make it as fun and enjoyable as possible for all concerned. Of course we are not saying that we do not support playing of other games, and indeed you may find other members who play other MMO’s as well as Wildstar, but from a leadership perspective we are focused only on developing the guild within this game. --- Casual or Hardcore? Do I need to be online 24/7?Venus Rising will very much be rooted in the casual aspect of the game. That isn’t to say that we won’t be active and playing a lot, but that our requirements for members are very nonrestricted. We don’t mind if you log on just to chat, or cannot log in for a few days at a time due to real life commitments etc – that’s fine – real life should always come first. Of course, we want people to play a part and help create the community feel we are working towards, but we do not expect people to be online every day, nor do we expect people to rearrange their real life priorities for in game events. So we want you to be online as much as you want to be. The leadership will always be pretty active and we hope you will be too, but it’s entirely your choice. --- What type of players do we want in Venus Rising? While it’s easy to say that we like to do everything, in this case it’s true. Rather than pigeonhole ourselves by only looking to attract players who want PvE content, or the complete Roleplaying experience, we genuinely do want to do everything. We want to ensure that members always have plenty of people to play with, so we want to bring in active PvE players who have an interest in partying up and running group content with other guild members. We also want to establish ourselves on the battlefields and warplots, so we are looking for people who enjoy the PvP aspect of the game. We have members who are looking to get involved in Roleplaying and storytelling, so we are looking for more people with an interest in player made stories and events, and of course we are looking to be involved in the Elder game, either alone or as part of a collective, so are looking for people who are up for the challenge of tackling the Elder game raids and bosses. But most importantly, we want people who are willing to work outside of the conventional boundaries of the PvE / PvP / RP mentality. We are looking for PvPers who are willing to take an inexperienced PvE player along with them to an Arena battle. We are looking for Roleplayers who are comfortable introducing heavy PvPers to that aspect of the game and encouraging them to get involved if they want to explore that side of things. We want PvE players who are happy to take more casual players along with them to instances, teach them the ropes and help them to learn to stand on their own two feet. We are looking for people who want to make this guild into a real community, with a friendly and encouraging atmosphere where people look forward to logging on and spending time in game with us.--- What can you expect from Venus Rising?Aside from the tangible in game benefits of joining the guild (cool holo-logo and nice perks), we are looking to build a real community within the game, and will be actively encouraging members to work together to drive the guild forward in pursuit of a common goal. With that in mind we hope to be able to offer a good solid playerbase for grouping up to tackle content, as well as an active and friendly community in order to keep you engaged while you are logged in. As the game develops further, we also hope to expand and begin to offer dedicated officers looking after different aspects of the game (PvP / Raiding / Roleplaying), as well as regular events which support these activity streams. But these are all benefits that you could get from pretty much any guild, so to really answer this question as to what you can expect from us that might help us to stand out from the crowd; We offer a commitment to try to help you enjoy playing the game your way, whatever that way might be. --- Do I need Teamspeak / Vent / Mumble etc?The guild currently has none of the above set up, although it does have a spare Teamspeak channel which can be rolled out if needed. However it is important to note that participation in voice chat is purely optional. While these will be limits on what can be accomplished without voice chat (potentially organising a 40 man raid would be much easier using a mic!), we understand that some people aren’t comfortable for whatever reason using it and as such, where possible, we will endeavour to accommodate you whether or not you wish to use voice chat. --- How do I know if Venus Rising is the right guild for me?It’s difficult to really say if Venus Rising is the right guild for you or not, however if you were reading the above and nodding your head thinking “yep this all makes sense” then chances are we are in the same playing field. Short of having a bit of a chat with one of us either on here or in game it’s difficult to gain more of an assessment, however to give you a bit of a better idea, here is a list of the type of people who would probably not get the most satisfaction out of joining Venus Rising. This may seem like an unusual approach however as mentioned earlier, getting the right guild is important, and we do not people to join up and regret it because their goals don’t really align with our own. So, you probably wouldn’t enjoy it in Venus Rising if: You are looking to set server or world firsts for Elder game achievements – While we are looking to experience all the game has to offer, we are looking to enjoy the journey. Fair play to those who can devote the time and energy to achieving level 50 within 2 days, or who can throw hours and hours at a raid within the first week to get it completed, we do not wish to place those time demands on our members. You expect to be told to respec to the most efficient build with each patch, or you expect others to do the same – While min / maxxing is a valid playstyle for some people, we prefer not to force people to play the game in a way they do not enjoy. If that means that they run with a less than optimal build, that’s fine by us. A well-played sub optimal spec beats a poorly played maxxed out spec every time. You want to live in the battlegrounds and be feared by everyone in them – Again, nothing against the pure PvP lifestyle choice, that’s fine, but our PvP group will likely not be active enough to provide you with the regular groups you need, and this has in the past led to ill feelings. We are obviously keen to avoid that for all concerned. You expect guild chat to be conducted ‘in character’, in a roleplay fashion – Guild chat is just that, a way for all guild members to contact one another. We won’t enforce an ‘in-character’ requirement as some of our members will not wish to be involved in Roleplaying. If a Roleplay event is occurring, chances are it will be being done as a raid group or similar so in character chat can take place there. You object to rolling on an RP server – As mentioned, since we will have an active Roleplaying component, we will be rolling on the Roleplay server (assuming there is one). If you are not comfortable with this, and do not feel your normal global chat communcations will fit in on a roleplay server then we might not be the best place for you. Note that for those who have never rolled on a RP server before, provided you are mature and respectful, roleplay servers are normally happy to accept non roleplayers into their midst. Again as mentioned, this isn’t a negative thing. All of the above are valid ways to play, however if you find that you fall into one of those categories, we feel it is important that you are aware that Venus Rising probably will not satisfy your requirements of what you need from a guild. We would much rather lay our cards out on the table now so you know exactly what we are offering, so that you are better informed when you make your decision as to where to send your application. We would rather be honest up front about what we can and cannot offer you, so that you don’t end up leaving and feeling unhappy that we were not what you expected and have wasted your time. --- How do I apply? We are in the process of setting up a website with an application form to be filled out at http://venusrising.shivtr.com/ - Feel free to head on over and apply via the application form that will be up on the site shortly. Once you’ve applied, someone from the guild will be in contact with any further questions and then again once your application has been accepted.
