So what do we have here? A fresh Dominion soldier looking for a battle? There's plenty of that here on Nexus, but do you think you can take it? Think you got what it takes to stand tall when the Exiles start ganking up on you recruit? Yeah?

Well, go ahead then, kill yourself to prove a point hotshot. In the meantime, I'll let the next in line get a shot at joining Venus Rising, a group that knows that in war, numbers count.
What's that? You changed your mind cupcake? Well, let's talk business then.

Venus Rising is a newly formed guild looking for players who want to work together to take on all the challenges Nexus has to offer. Given the importance of guilds in Wildstar, it’s vital that we ensure that the people who join will fit in with the philosophy of the guild, for both their benefit and ours. Below is a summary of who we are, what we stand for, and how we will play - so if you’re thinking about pledging your loyalties to a guild, but haven’t yet picked one, then read on and see if Venus Rising might be what you are looking for.
    ---
Multi gaming conglomerate or stand alone community?
As mentioned above, Venus Rising is a newly formed guild. As a result we will be focusing our energies solely on playing Wildstar. While the guild is new, the leadership team is experienced, having led or been involved with successful guilds across a broad spectrum of games, including Dark Age of Camelot, Shaiya, Last Chaos, World of Warcraft, The Secret World, Rift, Defiance and Neverwinter. Across each of these, a consistent theme has been maintained – that is actively looking to encourage players to experience everything the game has to offer, and trying to make it as fun and enjoyable as possible for all concerned. Of course we are not saying that we do not support playing of other games, and indeed you may find other members who play other MMO’s as well as Wildstar, but from a leadership perspective we are focused only on developing the guild within this game.
    ---
Casual or Hardcore? Do I need to be online 24/7?
Venus Rising will very much be rooted in the casual aspect of the game. That isn’t to say that we won’t be active and playing a lot, but that our requirements for members are very nonrestricted. We don’t mind if you log on just to chat, or cannot log in for a few days at a time due to real life commitments etc – that’s fine – real life should always come first. Of course, we want people to play a part and help create the community feel we are working towards, but we do not expect people to be online every day, nor do we expect people to rearrange their real life priorities for in game events. So we want you to be online as much as you want to be. The leadership will always be pretty active and we hope you will be too, but it’s entirely your choice.
    ---
What type of players do we want in Venus Rising?
While it’s easy to say that we like to do everything, in this case it’s true. Rather than pigeonhole ourselves by only looking to attract players who want PvE content, or the complete Roleplaying experience, we genuinely do want to do everything. We want to ensure that members always have plenty of people to play with, so we want to bring in active PvE players who have an interest in partying up and running group content with other guild members. We also want to establish ourselves on the battlefields and warplots, so we are looking for people who enjoy the PvP aspect of the game. We have members who are looking to get involved in Roleplaying and storytelling, so we are looking for more people with an interest in player made stories and events, and of course we are looking to be involved in the Elder game, either alone or as part of a collective, so are looking for people who are up for the challenge of tackling the Elder game raids and bosses. But most importantly, we want people who are willing to work outside of the conventional boundaries of the PvE / PvP / RP mentality. We are looking for PvPers who are willing to take an inexperienced PvE player along with them to an Arena battle. We are looking for Roleplayers who are comfortable introducing heavy PvPers to that aspect of the game and encouraging them to get involved if they want to explore that side of things. We want PvE players who are happy to take more casual players along with them to instances, teach them the ropes and help them to learn to stand on their own two feet. We are looking for people who want to make this guild into a real community, with a friendly and encouraging atmosphere where people look forward to logging on and spending time in game with us.
    ---
What can you expect from Venus Rising?
Aside from the tangible in game benefits of joining the guild (cool holo-logo and nice perks), we are looking to build a real community within the game, and will be actively encouraging members to work together to drive the guild forward in pursuit of a common goal. With that in mind we hope to be able to offer a good solid playerbase for grouping up to tackle content, as well as an active and friendly community in order to keep you engaged while you are logged in. As the game develops further, we also hope to expand and begin to offer dedicated officers looking after different aspects of the game (PvP / Raiding / Roleplaying), as well as regular events which support these activity streams. But these are all benefits that you could get from pretty much any guild, so to really answer this question as to what you can expect from us that might help us to stand out from the crowd; We offer a commitment to try to help you enjoy playing the game your way, whatever that way might be.
    ---
Do I need Teamspeak / Vent / Mumble etc?
The guild currently has none of the above set up, although it does have a spare Teamspeak channel which can be rolled out if needed. However it is important to note that participation in voice chat is purely optional. While these will be limits on what can be accomplished without voice chat (potentially organising a 40 man raid would be much easier using a mic!), we understand that some people aren’t comfortable for whatever reason using it and as such, where possible, we will endeavour to accommodate you whether or not you wish to use voice chat.
    ---
How do I know if Venus Rising is the right guild for me?
It’s difficult to really say if Venus Rising is the right guild for you or not, however if you were reading the above and nodding your head thinking “yep this all makes sense” then chances are we are in the same playing field. Short of having a bit of a chat with one of us either on here or in game it’s difficult to gain more of an assessment, however to give you a bit of a better idea, here is a list of the type of people who would probably not get the most satisfaction out of joining Venus Rising. This may seem like an unusual approach however as mentioned earlier, getting the right guild is important, and we do not people to join up and regret it because their goals don’t really align with our own. So, you probably wouldn’t enjoy it in Venus Rising if:
    • You are looking to set server or world firsts for Elder game achievements – While we are looking to experience all the game has to offer, we are looking to enjoy the journey. Fair play to those who can devote the time and energy to achieving level 50 within 2 days, or who can throw hours and hours at a raid within the first week to get it completed, we do not wish to place those time demands on our members.
    • You expect to be told to respec to the most efficient build with each patch, or you expect others to do the same – While min / maxxing is a valid playstyle for some people, we prefer not to force people to play the game in a way they do not enjoy. If that means that they run with a less than optimal build, that’s fine by us. A well-played sub optimal spec beats a poorly played maxxed out spec every time.
    • You want to live in the battlegrounds and be feared by everyone in them – Again, nothing against the pure PvP lifestyle choice, that’s fine, but our PvP group will likely not be active enough to provide you with the regular groups you need, and this has in the past led to ill feelings. We are obviously keen to avoid that for all concerned.
    • You expect guild chat to be conducted ‘in character’, in a roleplay fashion – Guild chat is just that, a way for all guild members to contact one another. We won’t enforce an ‘in-character’ requirement as some of our members will not wish to be involved in Roleplaying. If a Roleplay event is occurring, chances are it will be being done as a raid group or similar so in character chat can take place there.
    • You object to rolling on an RP server – As mentioned, since we will have an active Roleplaying component, we will be rolling on the Roleplay server (assuming there is one). If you are not comfortable with this, and do not feel your normal global chat communcations will fit in on a roleplay server then we might not be the best place for you. Note that for those who have never rolled on a RP server before, provided you are mature and respectful, roleplay servers are normally happy to accept non roleplayers into their midst.
Again as mentioned, this isn’t a negative thing. All of the above are valid ways to play, however if you find that you fall into one of those categories, we feel it is important that you are aware that Venus Rising probably will not satisfy your requirements of what you need from a guild. We would much rather lay our cards out on the table now so you know exactly what we are offering, so that you are better informed when you make your decision as to where to send your application. We would rather be honest up front about what we can and cannot offer you, so that you don’t end up leaving and feeling unhappy that we were not what you expected and have wasted your time.
    ---
    How do I apply?
We are in the process of setting up a website with an application form to be filled out at http://venusrising.shivtr.com/ - Feel free to head on over and apply via the application form that will be up on the site shortly. Once you’ve applied, someone from the guild will be in contact with any further questions and then again once your application has been accepted.

After being drafted for war Niliana had seen enough to know that she didn't give a Chuas ass about the campain and quit to pursue something with more freedom, posibilities, and a ton of cash. Seriously, how are you supposed to live off a soldier salary? Eat dirt and share rooms with packbeasts? As if.

Turns out, earning a load of cash wasn't as easy as it sounded. With just enough moral to not outright beat up random people until money started to fall out of their heads the options did seem a bit slow in it. That is, until a piece of paper caught her eye.

Money and fame had literally blown into her face, but there was a problem standing between her and a pile of gold: the moron who was on the wanted poster. Since he wasn't likely just gonna drop his head off and run she'd have to be tough and personal with him, which was fine enough. If you didn't grow up fighting as a Draken you didn't grow up at all, period.

Would've been easy to go out and put a round through his membrane, but unfortunately she had to pawn off everything but the healing guns she tugged around with her to get to this hole, and come on, what was she gonna do with those? Heal him to death? No, loathe as she was with playing nice with others she was gonna need something else pointed towards the walking purse.

Seven hours and three arrests for punching people through walls later she had only found two that had been up for this. Some Cassian with an overgrown butter-knife hanging down her back and an albino Chua that kept oogling every piece of woman folk that wandered near enough to him.

She almost wanted to just give up on this and find a hole to sit in until something better blew her way, but what were the odds of her finding goons like this if it turned out this was the only way around? Rest would want benefits and security, some sort of evenly split of the profits and <REDACTED> like that. If they wanted a perfect third share they'd have to take it from her cold, dead hands.

After what felt like eternity for her they returned back with the head. It had been a piss easy fight all things considered, but then again, throwing grenades at someone and then chop off their heads in the ensuing chaos hardly left any room for anything but injuries and dumb luck, and by the emperor there had been more to heal than she wanted to think about. The Chua, Schlock something-or-other, nearly blew his arm off, and Havoc the Cassian? Schlock hit him with a stray and almost caused his back to melt. <REDACTED>ing Chuas and their bombs sometimes...!

She let the two dumbasses stand outside as she went in with the head to the bounty office. The second she was getting paid, she would slip them a few coins and then leave them behind to rejoin the <REDACTED>ing circus they were likely running away from.

It wasn't until she was at the desk, counting coins and splitting it up into three not at all same sized piles when she was made aware of a few things about bounty hunting. Namely, that if she had her own company, she didn't even have to participate in it to get paid. Rules were clear in the big shot taking a guaranteed cut of any bounty the crew brought in as long as they were registered, and an even bigger one if she did play along.

"So wait, I can make chumps do the dirty work and then reap the goods?" Niliana asked the clerk, preparing to crush some teeth if it turned out he was just trying to be funny.

"Certainly." The clerk replied like it was old news that everyone should know. "As long as you are at the required minimum of 3 people that all sign the forms you can start one."

The smile that spread on Niliana's face at the news was the sort that haunted your nightmares. She pulled all the coins back in the bag (minus the fourth of it she had alleady stashed on her person) and went outside to the two monkeys again.

Sweet-talking the Chua was no biggie, and the Cassian had joined up for cash so the lure of more made her follow her and his fellow goon into the room again.

"Got three here. Bring out the forms and let's get this over with."
Niliana said, leaning on the counter, looking impatiently on the clerk.

Of course, and what would your company be registered as?" The unfazed clerk said, grabbing a handful of forms to share around the three of them.

Niliana really wanted to punch the guys spleen out through his ass for not reacting one bit to her presence, but this was a chance for fat stacks of cash for her and for once she wasn't gonna ruin it by being herself. Not yet anyway.

    "Venus Rising."

A few keystrokes, some signing and that was it. They were out of there and on the streets again within 10 minutes, a stack of papers in the Chuas hand and a moneybag hanging from all threes belt.

These two was not anywere near a dream team, but right now they were all she had. A fact that almost made her regret what she'd just made them sign up for. Almost.

The thought of all the cash that was gonna stream to her kept her from it. The *Company* would take their part, and then the rest was going straight into her soon-to-be bulging pockets. And who knew? Perhaps she could afford some actual help later on instead of tugging around with Beavis and Butthead.

"Hey." The chua interupted her gold-filling mind and she looked down at him. He better have a good reason for this.

    "What?"

"Seen this part? Says the army takes 10% off the paycheck to- Umph" Schlock was interupted as she kicked him clear across the street in anger. So now she was stuck with two idiots And supporting the army she had left behind? What the hell had she done to deserve this?

Hey there fellow Wildstar fans, Schlock Nucho here. :)

After seeing how Niliana so kindly used the part I wrote I found it only fitting that I'd come by and give her props for how she put this whole thing up. And yes, that means that the spelling mistakes are on my head, but hopefully they're few. ^^

I've known Niliana through other games before and I can vouch gfor her abilities to not only maintain a guild, but keep it rolling the right way without it being a *hardcore or get out* envireoment. Fun takes high seat, and we're open for a lot of personality types to accomodate that. Hell, only thing Ive ever seen her restrict are straight up idiots that noone likes anyway, and who cares about those? :)

In any case, I can't express enough happy sounds to fit how much I'm looking forward to run Wildstar thin with her, and with everyone else who decides they wanna come along for the ride. It's gonna be a good guild filled with good, spirited people who can do whatever they want (PvE, PvP, Social, Clubbing baby seals, RP Etc.)

Venus Rising: We got candy. :3

If you're considering joining us, why not drop us a line and arrange to hang out for a bit at the next Beta weekend - get a bit of a feel for how things will be...

Of course we can't guarantee it will be the most productive time you'll spend in Wildstar, but we can pretty much guarantee it will be fun! :D

Just a quick summary for those who are considering us - Heres a brief rundown of what Venus Rising is all about...

    Where are we from?
The core of the leadership team (currently) are from the UK, which tends to lead to an EU bias with regards to location of members. That being said in past games we've successfully managed to balance multi regioned guilds by expanding the leadership to take that into account. We've no objection to players from other areas applying to join and it's hoped long term we will have a pretty solid online roster 24 hours per day...

    How noob is the guild?
Well this is all pretty relative, but in one form or another, Venus Rising has been in existance (although not always under that name) since around 2008. During that time we've played our fair share of games and experienced our fair share of content... We've done battle in the Warfronts of DAOC, Raided HC content in WoW, experienced Rift before it went F2P, Dominated a server in Shaiya, Explored the mysteries of The Secret World , and been milked like a cash cow in Neverwinter...! So we've been around a while, and we've had experience of a lot of different games. However that doesn't mean we are looking for others who can match this experience. Throughout all of our time in the various games, we have always stayed true to one constant, that any player, no matter how experience or new to the game, deserves the chance to experience as much of the game as they can - and thats what we like to offer to members... The opportunity to play the game in a friendly non-judgemental environment, where the only rules are that you treat other people with respect and consideration, and don't be a douche!

So do we still play all those games?
Short answer, no we don't. We prefer to pour all our focus into the current game we are playing - in this case, put all of our attention into making Wildstar even more fun than it already is for our members. There are leftover guilds in the games listed (and probably more besides), made up of players who wanted to stay behind and carry on the traditions we have talked about above, but they are entirely separate entities. Venus Rising will be playing Wildstar, and Wildstar only. That doesn't mean you have to though. You can play whatever you want...! If you like playing multiple MMO's, thats fine by us... Just think of Venus Rising as a home away from home, and a place where you can find a friendly face when you resume your story on Nexus.

Do I have to be active and online all the time doing guild stuff?
Well it always helps to be active... Guilds are very important in Wildstar and the bonuses you get for actively playing with guildmates are pretty substantial so we would of course love you to be in party 24/7. However we are also realists and understand how really it isnt our place to dictate what you do when you come online... So what we will do instead is ask this - Do you want nice guild perks and a good social network of friends to help you out when you need to run group content? Yes? Thought so... You will get out of Venus Rising what you put into it. If you make the effort and look for parties and try to take part in guild activities when possible, the rewards will come flowing back to you. However we also understand that sometimes you simply don't want to, you want to do your own thing - Thats fine too. We don't want any member to feel pressured or forced into doing something they don't want to do, so if you're not feeling up to doing much in game, and just want to come on for a chat or to work on your house, or to level your crafting, then by all means feel free to. And if you don't feel like playing for a few days, or even weeks, thats okay too... Just let one of us know if you're going to be taking a break - That way we won't worry too much about you when we don't see you online for a while...

    How big is the guild?
Well since we're starting out fresh, we're pretty small at the moment. We're looking to cap out at maybe 30 or 40 members initially, and then see how things develop from there. We don't want 100's of new faces in the first 2 weeks as we like to get to know everyone and make everyone feel welcome and included, and that in itself is a lot of work... So yeah, hopefully come release or shortly after, we will be around the 20-30 mark, expanding up to 40, and then capping there and reviewing the next steps if any further expansion is required. So if you're on the fence about joining, get an application in quickly just in case you miss the cut off point and we lock down membership!

What content will you be doing?
A bit of everything really. We have always traditionally been PvE focused with a nice helping of RP (and events to go along with it) and we don't see that changing any time soon. However if there is sufficient desire for PvP groups as well then we will shift focus slightly to include that as well. We want to experience everything the game has to offer, even the 40 man raids. We have an experienced raid leader who will look to organise that side of things once the game and the guild develops to that stage. Again though, please do not think that you will be expected to raid - it's entirely optional... The guild won't start raiding till it's ready, and there will be no rush to get ready...

What kind of events will the guild run?
To be honest it depends on the number of people and the way the game and the guild develops, however we will have designated dungeon run evenings, PvP afternoons, Roleplay storylines active on both the forum and in game at set times, and a set rota for raiding further down the line. In addition there will be the little impromptu events, things like guild lotteries and random giveaways, as well as semi-regular guild meetings so that members get a chance to discuss as a group, the direction the guild is headed in.

Wow this weekend's beta was messy from Carbine- but somehow we made it work!
Everyone who wanted an invite got one, we've got just over 25 members in the guild online now. A couple randoms from the game we might snag for launch- if we don't it's no biggie it's just beta.

There were a few leveling parties running around. But not much chatting due to several social bugs. Apparently they flagged us EU people as guests on the servers so that led to a big chaotic mess with guild invites and chatting.

My leveling party consisted of the officer team- Myself, Havoc, Ursula, Elim, and Schlock (who already has several alts in the guild!) we ran around and quested some- but mostly for experience and to explore. We're trying not to read too many quests and save the story for launch. We got to level 20 and managed to take a late night peek at the first dungeon. We brought the first pig boss down to 50% and if it weren't getting late we'd have killed it! (I'm personally loving healing as a spellslinger)

Next week we'll mentor down and run some guildies through some adventures and maybe a few dungeon runs. But, keep in mind there is absolutely no rush. We're just so excited to explore new areas and enemies and really get a feel for the combat! If you don't want to level a toon to 20, that's cool too we'll sit in someone's house and just chill like we did the beta before last.

All I know is the guild so far has really meshed, and this makes me as a guild leader very happy. No drama yet, it's all very relaxed and I'm incredibly glad everyone's getting along!

Just a few more days til Friday's surprise beta!
