How about things that make you fly that aren't explosive?

I can take you for a ride in my vintage 1965 Aston Martin DB5 and eject you from the car with the push of a button.

The reason for this is due to story. Aurin are Exile because their home was ravaged by Dominion for assisting the Exile Cassians (human) that fled destruction by the fleet. Mordesh were nearly extinct and Dominion decided to try and seal the deal, Human are exiled Cassians and Granok were stubborn to join Dominion forces as easily as the Draken did, so they were met with brutality instead. No doubt they're also dumber than a sack of bricks for having more bolder than brains. But who's keeping tally, right?

That's why the races are split between factions. It's ALL in the story. Even the Dominion races have their own stories on how they joined the desire for galactic conquest at the disposal of others :p

Everything smells like rowsdowers...the're everywhere. Stupid sheep things, only good in a stew, with a bit of Aurin. Fear smell is normal when you know a Chua is sneaking around you. I'm here...no....here....or behind you?

As long as I could interact with players of the opposite faction, I don't mind races being set to certain factions.

I like to believe there are renegades in each race that will work for whoever pays them but they simply are the minority - if a majority of a race allies with a faction, people will consider it the whole race.

I think we've just got a new member who is replying to topics which interest him!

That said ... if we post a topic that's been talked about in a new thread, we're scolded for making a new thread.

If we post in an old thread, then we're Thread Necro'ing.

That doesn't seem like a very fair choice, does it? ;)

I feel that if the topic is still relevant to current day, it's not so bad to necro it. Only if the info is outdated then it's just bothersome. Is it possible to lock threads?

If it's more than a month old - it's a Necro, and you should start a new thread if you have new information to discuss about it. Yes us long time forum members will point others in newer threads to threads that have discussed topics before (especially if they're less than a month old!), but that's mainly for topics that have been discussed to death already and reeaaaaallly don't need more iteration on the same ideas/arguments that will be stated (yet again) in the new thread.
