Carbine revealed four players paths at gamescom but only two were playable - the Explorer and Soldier.

Now let's take a closer look at the four player paths.

Please note: The quality of these photos aren't exactly high as they were taken on my iPhone off the LCD displays at the NCsoft/Carbine booth.

    Player Paths

This shot shows the four player paths with both the Scientist and Settler paths locked.

Explorer: I've journeyed cross the stars to a legendary planet at the edge of the known universe. You know what? I'm just getting started. Someone has to trek into the dark and dusty corners of this planet, and that someone is me.

How the Explorer's Beacons and Signal Strength work.

Soldier: Demolition, Destruction, War. I'm a hard-charging wrecking machine, throwing myself into the heart of the battle, and claiming victory against impossible odds. You want someone to plant the flag and start cracking some skulls? Then you talk to me, pal.

How the Soldier's Holdouts and Wave Display work.

Scientist: Impossible creatures, Mysterious ruins. Ancient technologies beyond belief. This planet
has a lot of secrets, and I won't rest until I've unlocked every one. They say that knowledge is power. I'm here to prove them right.

Settler: Carving a life from the untamed wilds of an alien planet takes grit, determination, and backbone. It's a tough job filled with unexpected adventures and dangers unknown. Most who try it don't survive. Good thing you brought me along.

I hope you enjoyed our quick overview of the player paths. Stay tuned for more updates over the next couple of days.

I got to play Wildstar yesterday and it was pretty entertaining. I like the Idea of choosing a certain path, where you´re not forced to fight enemys all the time.

    Thanks for the infos

I like the settler. What do you mean will the dominion(i don't like this uncreative name)
have the same paths? Hope we will become soon the first lore segments.

Thanks for the nice shots once again. The paths are one of WildStar's more unique features so I hope they turn out really well. So far they look pretty fun.

Can't wait to see what the settler does. I know they invested a lot in the social aspect so it should be really interesting.

Thank you for this! I'm excited about the Explorer path, it just sounds like how I would play. Kudos to Carbine for knowing what I like to do!

These are awesome. I am an explorer in every mmo I play and to finally get rewarded for doing so beyond my own personal satisfaction is awesome.

how will paths work??? besides the play style will you be able to rank up in your path?

say your explorer and you see something you want to climb, you get about half way up and all of the sudden "you need a explorer skill of at least 'x' to climb higher"?

or is your path set and you cant rank them up.. and the only thing you can rank up is your slandered level

    according to this video
soldier can rank up, but its not clear if any other can gain rank
    scientists can collect power
    settler not sure
    explorer not sure

I can't wait to explore, it's probably what I like to do most in any game.

This one I like. Stumbling upon ruins and finding some interesting object or story behind them.

I'm pretty keen on the Scientist path, myself! I love exploring and discovering lore bits of the "worlds" I'm playing in. It's interesting to see how in depth the creators/writers/developers have gone with their title for our measly enjoyment.

Yeah, so far the Scientist seems the most interesting to me too, although I think I'll suffer heavily from altitis as the other paths all appeal to me in one way or another as well.

    For sure, Starspun.
I have the worst habit of making alts for no real reason... /sigh. It is a flaw. Haha.
