so who won
I personally failed to think of an "Olympic" idea, so just included something I though would make a funny caption for the picture.
Yeah, me too. I just didn't think it had to be "Olympic", I thought they chose the picture because of the Olympics. Mine is a "winter snow" kind of caption.
Probably gonna be another day or so for the announcement. takes a while to read through several hundred entries, and they said the winning announcement will have the captions added to the picture, so that will take a little time as well...
Athletics in Sochi be like, it's not that cold i can still show off my muscles!
Expect an announcement tonight... I've made the images late last night but still need to send keys to the winners first before announcing.
Then I have to come up with a new competition to help hand out the further beta keys that were in my inbox this morning!
The text doesn't say that... it says:
Timeframe and Entering
To enter, ... before midnight EST on 17th February 2014 (other timezones) - ...
And given the OP had already tripled-confirmed that as being the date (via http://wildstar-central.com/index.p...ar-olympics-caption-contest.7994/#post-195166 ), it seemed that was the relevant item, not the fine print which had a different date.
I'm not complaining, I'm new around here and didn't really deserve to win a beta key even if my entry was deemed amazing. So I am certainly not annoyed my entry would have been deemed too late, that's no problem Just making the point that "midnight" is typically used to indicate "end of day". Nobody I've heard of would say "meet me at midnight on the 17th" and expect somebody to show up at 11:59 on the 16th
Midnight is the tiny moment exactly 12 hours between the noon of the previous day and before noon of the next day. Every digital clock that I've ever seen counts midnight towards the next day because the tiny fraction of time that is the actual "midnight" cannot practically be shown.
Hence midnight is normally the one minute starting at "00:00" here in Europe and "12:00 am" in the US.
The "am" (ante meridiem = before midday) indicates to which day this "midnight minute" is counted to. It's the new day. Otherwise it would be "post meridiem", after midday.
It makes more sense to count "midnight" (the minute starting at minute) towards the next day because it is after the tiny moment of midnight.
tl;dr = Noon and midnight are infinitely small moments of time. Technically 12 pm isn't noon and 12 am isn't midnight but we usually denote a moment in time as the minute following it. The first minute of the new day following midnight is "midnight" and the minute following noon is "noon".
Thank you very much for the competitions and the opportunity to get a beta key.
Aw junk! Just realized I forgot to put my real name in the email.
The terrible burden that is being Vinz Clortho (look its up... or just be awesome )

I don't see any annoucement of winners yet, so don't think mails have been sent yet.
Feeling good about this one (HA! FOOL!)
Don't forsake me, Zap-Robo!
I went with a play on the actual Sochi motto of "Hot. Cool. Yours." Hoping for the bet!
Again? Man, you've got it rough.
So, the winners have been notified but I'm sure you're all curious to see their creations. Be curious no more - here are the 20 winning captions...
I'm loving the Toto one:3 Congrats to all the winners!
So it didn't have to be Olympic themed?
